Solar and battery for West Bay and Hampton

Family houses on the western bay, close to the sea defences.

West Bay sits on the western side of the town, with Hampton beyond it, where a stub of the old Hampton-on-Sea pier and the Hampton Inn are what remain of a village that was abandoned by 1916 and had been lost to erosion by 1921. Coastal flooding and erosion are part of this area's history, and they shape how we think about equipment placement.

The 2021 Census counted 1,817 households in the West Bay ward. About 47% live in detached houses, 34% in semi-detached and 12% in terraces, with only 5% in purpose-built flats. That makes it a ward of mostly houses with their own roofs, where 4 to 5 kWp is a normal size and a battery is worth pricing next to it.

Herne Bay had its worst flood in 1953, and sea defences were built afterwards, with the Neptune's Arm breakwater added to protect the most vulnerable areas. We do not treat that as a reason to avoid a battery. We do ask for it to be fixed on a wall, off the floor, and we say so in the quote, so you can ask any installer the same.

What we check at your address
